Fitness..

26 03 2008

Well, things are coming to a head and I need to knuckle down and start on regaining becoming fit.

So today I went along to a trial class for boxing with one of the directors at work, and boy were we sweating all over the place. It also reinforced that both of us need to increase our fitness! It was a lot of fun though, and if I was not otherwise committed financially to other endeavours I would have signed up tonight!

My shoulders are going to give me hell tomorrow though… I can tell… a good kind of sore though.

Anyway, beyond that I’ve also had my feet all measured up for some new running shoes which I shall pick up on Saturday and then I can begin to engage in long walks and runs in earnest. Soon I will be skinny and none of you will recognise me… LOL… Ok, maybe not.

Not much else has been occurring in my mundane work and uni existence. Finally nearing the finish line for Uni… a long, long, long time coming. Shopping for trekking gear is still going, although I am yet to have purchased anything. This year looks like being an expensive year! All worthwhile though I think!

OH.. and my other sister has been married off. This happened the weekend before last and was a very enjoyable 2 days of celebrations! Now the family is unencumbered!! WOOHOO!!

Anyway, the stench of communal boxing gloves still emanating from my hands after a through scrubbing is making me nauseous… time to sign off..

Toodles

Public Holidays FTW!

10 03 2008

Yay for public holidays!

My weekend so far… Friday night was Cheazles’ drunken night out with her friend LoLo, whilst I got to sit back and watch a movie until my taxi service was summoned. Saturday I got up early and dropped Cheazles into work and then picked her up later in the afternoon and spent our evening internet shopping for hiking gear. Instead of rushing for our trip up the 1k steps on Sunday we had to have a change of plans. Family duties dragged Cheazles and I into town after our trip to the optometrist to help clean up the family shop after new fitout had been installed which took most of the afternoon. Which brings us to today…

I enjoyed a nice sleep in today, and basically achieved nothing. I got up, had a quick shower and a coffee… then went to the temple with the family, ate some pho for lunch and moseyed on home.

I had initially planned on doing the 1k steps on Sunday and then day trip out and do a 4hr hike today, but alas… 37 degree evilness prevailed.

As most of you are aware, I am sufficiently insulated against the cold and thus the heat does terrible and unnatural things to me. However, if it had only been, say in the high 20s temperature wise today, I would have gone ahead with the hike.

In anycase, I was spared the indignity of turning into some a waterlogged piece of ’siew yuk’, I have thoroughly enjoyed my day weekend of nothingness. However, it does make going back to work all the more depressing.

It is fortunate that the following 2 work weeks will also be shortened by a day! Woohoo!! Bring on more Public Holidays!
