10 Things..

26 02 2008

So since I’m a little bored tonight, I will also fill out my “10 things that make me happy” list ala Cheazles and MC..

In no particular order…

#10. Watching old movie favourites, b-grade rubbish from the 80s and 90s. Some Monty Python, Spaceballs, Jean Claude Van Damme and Chuck Norris.

#9. Cold, wet, windy and horrible days when I can stand back and watch in the warm cozy comfort of my window with a nice warm doona wrapped around me.

#8. Lazying about watching sport… NBA, Boxing, Cricket just to name a few I enjoy.

#7. That smell of first rain. When the weather is changing and you realise there is so much more going on around you and then the heavens open.

#6. A good cut and the whistle of my sword.

#5. Visiting one particular temple in Malaysia. It is very peaceful and there are turtles to be fed. Turtles are always a winner.

#4. The satisfaction of getting the timing and distancing right and the sweet effect on a person’s body as they are dropped/crumple/collapse.

#3. Durian, Curry Laksa & Assam Laksa.

#2. Spending a quiet night with my friends. Good conversation, good memories and some laughs. The evening beach trips are nice too… the sea is a sobering sight too.

#1. Cheazles McH, despite the fact she punched me in the eye today.

Freakin Heck!

My holiday plans were coming along just dandy, but I hit our first hiccup… Graduation Ceremony…

It’s been a long time coming and my parents, mother in particular, have indicated their displeasure at my holiday taking precedence over this event. So, I have to go and change my trip now. Which might I add, will cost me an extra couple of hundred dollars!!!

Who gives a flying *expletive* about the stupid ceremony! I get the bit of paper and look like a douche for a couple of hours. *sigh*

The things we have to do humiliations we have to endure for family…

I hope this gets sorted soon. I want to get back to my planning and shopping for gear… maybe there is a way for me to convince Cheazles that it is necessary for me to buy a new knife for the trip…

Well Eddie..

… Let’s lock in ‘A’ for Annapurna.

Alriiiiight… Giggidy, giggidy, gig-gi-dy!

That’s right folks we are commiting to this trip to the Himalayas! The clincher was a small presentation that we attended last night (Our Oh so romantic Valentines Day night), the presentation was made by one, Mister Garry Weare, formerly of World Expeditions and now a writer for Lonely Planet.

Now I also want to go to Lhasa, Tibet too!!

So many places… the Himalayan region and all the buddhist temples look amazing.

I absolutely cannot wait for this trip!!

After the trip we are spending a week and a half in hectic Hong Kong it looks like at this stage.

Well..

5 02 2008

Lots has happened since my last post and it is already into the second month of the year.

Things are flying along.

So, I guess the biggest thing that has happened was the passing of my grandmother.

There was a quick trip back to my parent’s home town for the Taoist funeral service which involved a lot of chanting by the monks and walking around and joss sticks and bowing and kneeling. There was even a parade through the small town/village main road following the casket and small altar. Quite an eye opener for me, and it was infact probably the longest amount of time I have spent in the town my parents grew up in. With the sudden passing of my grandmother and my grandfather here who passed away suddenly at the end of last year, it means I have no blood relations of that generation remaining. It is sad.

Beyond that however, things have just been plodding along.

I have had an enjoyable little road trip to Healesville and a wander around Maroondah Dam. There has been a lovely little lunch and lie in the park with crew and last weekend saw the return of Nuffies and a short little trip down to the beach.

All in all, I have been enjoying the quiet life and work has not been too hectic at the moment.

On the horizon however, uni will be back for my last few subjects soon, work will get busier and there are things to look forward to this year such as a trip to the Himalayas! :)

According to the tour operators… this is what to expect on the first night.

So, goodbye gut and hello buff toned Frutzie as I prepare for the trek.
