Plodding along..

31 07 2007

Saturday night was a great reaffirmation of the fact that my friends and I are boring home bodies! :)

My weekend consisted of my non-homebody Friday night, attending the Christina Aguilera concert before she cancelled the rest of her shows. Even though she was sick, I must say the lady can sing! She didn’t do some of the higher vocal runs she normally does, but hawt dang! If only the talentless artist on the radio could have a smidgen of her talent, the radio would be much better to listen to. That isn’t to say I want people to sound like her; more that they could do with more talent! Teehee..

Saturday was a catch up with the Old Fella Spicy and some Systema punching, which was entertaining and enlightening. Then Saturday night was the fantastic lazy home body night with Amph, Cheazles, Immie and Hazza. It consisted of sausages on bread with onions and then some corn cobs and then for desert, Krispy Kreme donuts and ice cream. As outlined by Amph it was topped off by several games of scattergories, pictionary and verbal picitonary/charades type game and was LOADS of fun! It is so good to just do pointless activities with friends and lazy about. Friends FTW! LAZINESS FTW!

Then Sunday came..

My over indulgence in donuts over the last two weeks was brought into focus on Sunday’s walk up the steps. Them donuts were weighing me down. No more donuts for awhile! PLUS.. Cheazles critisized my gait! Apparently I walk like a child.. which I think is a compliment because kids plod and plodding provides a lowered centre of gravity thus less prone to slipping. Despite my explainations though, Cheazles thinks it’s a bad thing! Something about me being lazy no doubt, which if you refer above… LAZINESS FTW! Victory is mine! Hehehehe…

Sunday’s lunch after the walk with my Cheazles and Amph was note worthy though! Opting for a healthier option we bought stuffs to me sandwiches. So we had a sour dough cob, chili salami, ham, juniper berry infused pate, smoked trout, caviar, semi dried tomatos, roasted egg plant, cheese and onions. After several sandwich variations I was stuffed full! MMmmm… The rest of Sunday was playing my cousin’s PS3!! and some pointless summaries for uni about topography, rainfall, soil types and what not.

Which brings us back to the start of the work week.

Monday was boring at uni… 4hrs of boring. Monday night was training night! Got to punch Tam in the gut! Woot! Take that fallopian tubes! Was a good training session.. I hear she’s looking a little worse for wear though…

Testosterone overload!

Anywayz, I should do something more productive now… Toodles

Flying by..

22 07 2007

As Amph put it today, the year has indeed been flying by. In 5 short weeks, Amph should be an uncle twice over, 5 short weeks and I’ll be in my final rotation for the scholarship program, in a weeks time Rubinho may be home and after the long wait, this weekend saw the climax of the immensely popular Harry Potter series.

Life is just flying by at a spectacular speed. To what end or purpose? Who knows?

Anywhos, the weekend was a pleasant relaxing one. Friday night at Immie’s chillaxing. It’s always nice to just do nothing with friends and just sit and enjoy the good company. Oh! and good food too! Authentic HAWT Lankan food! MMmm..

There were a few thought provoking discussions that occured too. It was brought to our attention that there are consequences to holding in your farts, as it drastically increases the chances of poo cancer according to Harold. Although I have no clue what poo cancer actually is, in future I shall just be letting them rip without warning as it would be damaging to my health to do otherwise.

There was another interesting conversation of more substance which made me pause to think. How does life ever get so bad that there is no desire to continue? Is it because of a feeling of extreme isolation? Is it due to mental anguish? The immense stress and strain of life? Is there actually nothing left? Nothing that would cause a person on the edge to pause? Is there no one who you could see or speak to that would give things more meaning? This is something that I find escapes my understanding.

As with everyone, my life has had it’s trials and tribulations, but I have never woken to the day to think I wish it would all end. Thus, when this discussion was on going it was not one I could understand or relate to. I guess I can only hope that I never have to truly understand it in that way, but more clarity on the issue might be knowledge that one day may be useful as you never know where life leads you.

I always figure I can make it through anything as along as I have my family and friends, but what if I didn’t have them… does it mean I would not want to go on? I hope I never have to find out.

*quickly pays more people to be my friend*

Start to the semester..

16 07 2007

Damn effing parking fines! GRRRrr!!!

Now, it was probably entirelly my own fault since I thought I’d stay til the break instead of leaving in the middle of class to move my car. Thus I have paid the price! DAMN THE COUNCIL!!

Maybe this parking fine is saying, ‘don’t bother turning up to this class’… hmm… maybe..

At least my weekend was better than the start to this work week. The weekend just past, I watched the Hazza P movie, did my weekly walk up the step (thanks to Amph forcing us not to back out due to the rain) and caught up with the Old Fella Spicy!

Not having caught up for awhile, we had a good chat. It was good to see him moving on a little more with life after an unhappy time, and being a bit more positive about things. He also has been training in Systema! Which is very cool, and he started showing me some cool and nifty new things (refer to clip below) which is enticing me to pop along to train with his new group.

Now having felt the Old Fella hit me with a fairly gentle motion using this technique, I’m unsurprised with the results shown. It is surprising (in a good way) the kind of power generated and the penetration felt in the body. Very nice indeed.

Only unfortunate things is that there just is not enough time for me to learn everything I want!

This deserves an entire post dedicated to it:

Credit must go to Krispy for showing this to me.

Whoops

12 07 2007

So I totally forgot to make mention of a few other recent purchases made by friends and family. Most notably, a big congrats going out to Immie on her apartment, and a big Huzzah for my sister who bought a unit!! WOOT!!

We will soon be able to speak and make noise again in my house past 9pm!

Other than that, Uni is back next week… back to the grind.

Now, just for educational purposes please enjoy this documentary on

Phew..

10 07 2007

I passed all my subjects this semester!! Woot!

One of the subjects was looking a little dubious, but all has turned out well! Very happy camper here!

With the good news in hand, the last couple of days have been very relaxing with no concerns lurking in my mind. I’ve been able to sit and lounge around enjoying my Cheazles‘ company and her foxtel :) ! and I also got to practice punching Tam in the face too. Totally awesome *laughs maniacally* !!

A big CONGRATS to N the pirate for the purchase of a house! Excellent news and it will be good to have you around for some fun times soon! OH.. and HAPPY BIRTHDAY for this weekend!

Dollars down the gurgler..

8 07 2007

After getting up early and doing our weekend hike up the 1000 steps, of which Amph and I ran the final flight a second time, the three of us went shopping. Now I was hoping not to spend money, but it looks like I failed miserably. After having bought a new suit only a couple of weeks ago, I went and bought a few more bits and pieces.

I now have a

<-(with slightly different stitch print)

and a

<-(In khaki)

and a new Everlast rugby top, of which I can’t find a picture for.

My monies is disappearing!! ARGH!!!!

Also, poor Cheazles has been sorely neglected in the shopping department in the last few weeks! She did get a few items herself today, as did Amph, but she deserves a few other new things too.

Exermacises?

8 07 2007

That’s right! I did indeed exercise today!

Yet again a thank you to go out to Chippa for being super awesome and spending some time with us (Tam and I) noobs. Was a very good little session. Parkour is turning out to be much more of a mental game than a physical game I’m finding. The physical part just comes from practicing, but mentally getting yourself to let go and just commit to doing something is hard.

Today involved practicing a wall climb/pull up which for some reason I can’t coordinate correctly using the proper method. I’m getting close on it, but it’s frustrating.

Then we did arm jumps. *queue the scary music*

Basically, we were trying to clear a gap and hang onto a wall. Sound easy? Well, it’s not. Especially when you get up there and become all neurotic and think, ZOMG I can’t make that distance. The stupid thing being, I know I CAN make that distance. FRUSTRAMATIONS! At least my technique whilst practicing the landings against the wall has improved, but doing the actual jump across that distance. Well, lets just say I was pretty pathetic.

On to the monkey vaults. Due to my miserable failings in the previous technique, I told myself, ‘just get over the wall you big wuss’, and so I forced myself to commiting to leaping over the wall. Now, the best method is to get over straight bodied and I’m still working on that. I am however happy to say I can some what make it over, albeit with a small twist. A good start nonetheless.

All in all, it was a fun day and challenging and a few scrapes and bumps to go along with the fun times. I did almost rip part of my thumb nail off though, so that’s a tad sore.

Then tonight was a nice quiet night spent with Cheazles. I like Cheazles! :)

A lazy weekend..

1 07 2007

Ahh… love it. Laziness FTW!

So, my weekend has so far consisted of watching the Transformers movie which was highly entertaining indeed! Now, I still maintain that it would have been better to have left Optimus in his traditional form, but the movie itself was fast paced action and Megan Fox was easy on the eyes too.

Saturday involved me sitting on my butt most of the day. Having a good sleep in, I then had some food and coffee, and then instead of doing any training, Tams and I surfed Youtube for the afternoon. We enjoyed quite a few good clips, but two stand outs are:

Then, I went and picked up Cheazles and we toddled down to visit some of her extended family. Thus we attended a 3 year old’s birthday and a pair of twin girl’s 1st birthday. This was followed by a late night stop over to her cousin’s for yet another coffee. I must say the lucky 3 year old was the recipient of one of these:

I am so going to get one of these to go along with my Darth Tater!! Woot!!

Today I have gone for my weekly walk up the thousand steps, and then came back and have undone all the good work by eating Hungry Jacks for lunch. After which I’ve since had a nanna nap, a lovely coffee and enjoyed the crooning of Nat King Cole and the awesome music of the Garden State Soundtrack.

Lazy afternoon going smashingly.. all that’s missing is some rain.

Enough typing… *contemplates another nanna nap*
