Chillaxin’

25 03 2007

So, I’ve been cruising over the last few weeks. Things had been quite hectic but have quietened a little now, and so with uni not requiring any hand ins so far I have just been concentrating on my new job. This week marks the half way point of the first rotation in the program and last week I was privy to one of the infamous Supper Inn outings by my department! I think there was more alcohol consumed in one sitting than I’ve seen for a while, and that was followed by a trip to a wine bar after we were booted out of the restaurant. Although I didn’t drink much (I did try a small nip of the red and the white) I must say it was a most enjoyable night!

Anywhos, other than work and uni not much else has been going on. So, I won’t bore anyone with any other babbling.

Oh.. one quick thing though. GO FERRARI! What a win last Sunday! Awesome stuff!

Cognac FTW!!!

13 03 2007

This weekend was ROUND II *ding ding ding* for my sister’s wedding!

The arrival of some family from interstate signalled the start of the celebrations and when I arrived home from work Friday night, there was a full table of relatives sitting about enjoying some food. This was followed by the organising of some last minute bits and pieces for Saturday’s festivities and then everyone went off to bed.

Come Saturday morning, for a bit of asian flavour, the morning consisted of a bit of chowing down on noodles, nonya desserts, sushi etc. followed by a tea ceremony! That was a nice little relaxed partay with a few photos, some tea, some red packets and everyone having a jolly time.

Saturday night heralded a night of first for some people. The first time for Cheazles’ parents to meet mine (after 7+years), first time for a few foods for Rubinho and most importantly the first tastes of XO cognac for a few!

So, the party got off to a meandering start with some chatting… then the food arrived and the bottles of Red and White wine were opened. Now from all reports the red (Pierre Naigeon Beaujolais) went down a treat and we will next time have to order a lot more of those! Anyway, there was a little more chatting… then came the Shark Fin Soup, which led to the first uncorking of the various cognac for the night!

This lead to a night of heavy drinking for a few on our table. Although the boys did not get left with the XO, they were tasked with finishing the bottle of Hennessy VSOP between the few of them drinking. So, being the type of lads who will rise to the challenge they drank and drank and drank and indeed they finished the bottle! Which then lead to some impromptu karaoke.

*hem hem*

“You never close your eyes, anymore when I kiss your lips..and there’s no tenderness, like before in your finger tips… You’re trying hard not to show it, BABY… but BABY… BABY I KNOW IT… YOU’VE LOST THAT LOVIN’ FEELING.. WHOA, THAT LOVIN’ FEELING… YOU’VE LOST THAT LOVIN’ FEELING, NOW IT’S GONE… GONE… GONE…WOOoooOOooH”

This song was followed by another favourtie…

“O-Only YOUUuuu… Can make, all this world seem right…. OOOonnly YOU…Can make, the darkness bright… Only You, and You Alone… Can, thrill me like you do… and fill, my heart with love for Ooonly YOU!!!”

Then upon exiting the premises once the celebration had ended, we were spurred on by the Groom’s brother to continue partying else where. So, there was talk of continuing our karaoke in town. However, this is when the grim reality of downing a bottle of VSOP pretty much between 3-4 people kicked in.

So, after a brief stop which was meant as a toilet break… the ensuing karaoke was cancelled. Firstly by the Groom’s brother piking on everyone! At his insistence we had organised to go to town, but not 30 minutes later I believe the 18 odd little shots and 5 glasses of wine had hit him all at once, and I have since been advised that he went home and covered the rubbish bin in the kitchen in vomit. With him gone, the likelihood of going to town decreased significantly. Especially since Amph left feeling a little worse for wear, and my cousin was puking his guts out in the park on and off over a 40 minute period.

However, I believe everyone had an awesome night and there will be photos floating about for those who wish to view them.

A big shout out to Rubinho who became the unofficial photographer, and to all who attended who made the night such a memorable event! (Especially my table! who clearly won the Yum-Sing (Yang Sing – mandarin) contest!)

Finalised..

6 03 2007

Well we have finalised the sale and my eldest sister is no longer a liability for this family! :)

All we need to do now is get rid of the other one… the sooner the better! She is a big bearded clam if you get my drift.

The wedding over the weekend was lovely, however the downside was my other sister. She made the whole event a nightmare for all. Constantly complaining about everyone. I think she thought she was the most amazing person who contributed so much to organising the event. Which I must concede that she did infact do something… which is better than the nothing that she normally does for anyone else. Actually, I lie… she does bitch and moan on a regular basis and demand that everyone must bow down to her will. Now, going back to the weekend. I do appreciate the fact that the groom and his family did carry much of the burden in terms of ferrying people around and organizing various things, but I guess that is because the event was held in Sydney and us Melbournites are not familiar with the area. So I did definately appreciate their efforts. One of my stupid git of a sister’s major gripes was that she felt we used and abused her boyfriend who had also travelled to Sydney for the wedding. Her boyfriend being the easy going person that he is was more than happy to help out since it was convenient that people stayed at certain venues etc. So he did not feel like he was being put out at all, but my sister decided to hurl abuse at whoever she could, particularly me since she felt that I should be doing everything that her boyfriend ended up doing. She criticised everyone for not pulling their weight and being better organised, yet there was not an apology to be had when she was proven wrong on multiple occassions e.g. Telling us we were all stupid idiots who should just take a taxi since we were going to be SOOooo late to lunch. Well I drove.. and…SURPRISE! we were 15 minutes early! Sheesh!!! Essentially, towards the end of the weekend I would have enjoyed swinging a big nerf bat up the side of my sister’s head several times.

Hopefully this weekend’s festivities are not marred by further moronic behaviour by her!

Anywhos.. I would rather not have to relive the stupidity inflicted upon me by the silly twit and will move onto more pleasant thoughts.. Like the continuation of the wedding celebrations which are in Melbourne for all the family and friends who could not join us in Sydney. Traditional Chinese Banquet… *drool*
