..the end is here… and so I face the final curtain”
So goes the immortal words of old blue eyes.
Well folks, the final curtain on the year 2005 is here… and what a year it was.
Many good and bad memories from this year… and being ever optimistic I fondly remember the good ones more than the bad.
Anywayz… don’t want to sit here dwelling over the past… it’s the future we have to look towards! Foward Planning is the key!
As part of this foward planning, I have planned (in a foward direction strangely enough) to endeavour to have as successful or perhaps an even more successful year academically next year. Also I have planned to perhaps reduce my ‘rotund-ness’ (as Raven aka. the artist formerly known as N the Pirate calls it). Perhaps as an aside I’ll also have my perennial plan of becoming a martial arts grand master poobah.
Hmm… maybe I should take that last one off the list… as I don’t want to lie to myself…
Well, enough babbling… planning is all good and fine… but putting things into action is what is required…
and action requires energy
and energy requires ice cream… speaking of which…
I ate a Mango Weis Bar… and now, I’m spent…
Toodles
So… I’m 24. Where does all the time go? I’ll be married and having children in no time…
Well, that’s not all bad I guess… children can be sent to do all your menial tasks… the trade off is that you have to do their menial tasks for the first at least 5-6 years of their life. I estimate that you should however reap the benefits in the following 10-15 years or so.
Anywhoz, went to the Dandenong Ranges today with some of my contemporaries and enjoyed a lovely day wandering about and eating lots of food.
We had lunch at ‘Pie in the sky’, a lovely restaurant in Olinda. Had me a pie floater. For those who don’t know what a pie floater is… no, it’s not as vile as it sounds. It is a bowl with soup (pea and ham) with a pie in the middle and some mash potato on top. Quite yummy.
Then we went up to ‘Sky High’ the look out place and took some photos, wandered along one of their walking tracks where Immie hiked along with us wearing a pair of high heels.
After that we went to Miss Marples Tea Room and had some most capital scones!
I was actually full most of the day! That is a rarity for me since I am a garbage guts.
Then, tonight we ate pizza at Cheazle’s and took Amph out for his first Manual driving attempt! (Of which he did quite well)
THEN… we watched Shaun of the Dead.
For those of you who haven’t seen this movie. It is quite an educational film which illustrates the many issues that a Zombie outbreak can raise. Such as the emotions encountered whilst suppressing former friends or family members who have been bitten and become zombies. This area is often forgotten in these zombie educational featurettes.
Other information from this film regarding zombie suppression is the very useful; take out the head, or destroy the brains. This is key to dealing with zombies.
Also, the use of blunt weapons seems to be generally a good zombie suppression tool. I believe it has been long debated that the use of blades against zombies generally aren’t effective for the layman. Too much training is required.
So keep in mind, that if accosted by zombies perhaps a blunt object maybe easier to weild. Shaun’s tool of choice was the cricket bat.
Well, to summarise my day:
It was a great day; had scones in good company, helped Amph learn manual driving, thus doing my good deed for the day/week/month/year. Then enjoyed a throughly educational film on Zombie suppression.
All in all… quite a choice day.
Well, the festive season is over… I guess there is New Year to come which is pretty cool too… BUT it’ll be another whole year before we bust out the food and presents again. Oh well, just as well… I’ve eaten way too much and will probably need the year to work off the calories.
For new year’s I believe we’re gonna be at Amph’s place and attempting to cook a nice meal for all to share.
On the menu so far is:
Nigella Lawson’s – Ham in Coca-Cola
and
Rick Stein’s – Langoustine and mussel Chowder
Still haven’t decided on a dessert yet… Maybe a Lemon Tart… MMMmmmm…
Oh, the Boxing Day Test match has begun… the day started well for the Aussie’s but after Ponting went out, they crumbled… and now they are 8 down, with Hussey left as the only recognized batsman. They are going to need to be good with the ball to keep the competition alive.
Anywhoz… sleep time… had a most enjoyable day today with Cheazles… we did nothing… lazied about… was fantastic…
So bloggeroonies, it be christmas and another year down the gurgler. Damn this year went quick! At least I have certain areas of my life back on track… all I need to do now is reduce my gut a little! But it can wait until the new year… I still have to gorge myself on food tomorrow and for my birthday!! YAY MORE PRESENTS! I have to admit, I was naughty and opened some of my xmas presents already!
Cheazles bought me the boxset of Lone Wolf and Cub! YAY!!! Oh and I got a Darth Tater from Amph!

Ended up having a day largely dominated by eating. Had a huge lunch with BBQ turkey, lamb, fish, pork, ham and minimal salad. Then, I had dinner of BBQ stuff again with some skewers and some sausages. I went easy for dinner, because I had DURIAN in store for myself when I got home! AWESOME! What a great way to top off my day!
Anywhos, I’ve got a few presents waiting for me to open tomorrow because some members of my family felt the need to prevent me from opening all of my presents! Not that it matters… It isn’t a religious event for myself… it is really just an opportunity to spread some happiness and buy some presents…
Well… i’m tired now, I’m gonna go to bed early..
Have more eating planned for tomorrow
Oh… a quick Toodles to the GreyWolf who kindly gave me a tinkle from Japan today! Good to hear from you!
Went to watch King Kong tonight… he was one bad a$$ ape! The way he beat up on the dinosaurs… quite a good fighter he was. Film went for 3 hrs and was pretty good the entire way through I thought.
Anyway… onto the more irritating parts of the movie… The complete lack of respect and abiding by correct movie etiquette by a bunch of F-ing Twits behind us!
DAMN IT… if you are going to turn up to a movie, please… SHUT THE F-CK UP! Even after being told to shut up by 2 separate parties, these numb skulls still didn’t get the clue. I spent much of the film rueing the fact I had not brought a stick with me, nor did I possess the inhuman strength and fighting ability of Kong… I did imagine myself turning around and slugging these people and perhaps if I was Kong like, I would stomp on a few too… but Alas… I had no stick with me… and I am not Kong nor am I Kong-esque in fighting ability or size.
I did however have a most capital idea… I would like to propose an open policy in all cinemas:
Where patron are found not abiding by the correct movie etiquette… i.e. having your mobile turned off or on silent, not kicking the chair in front of you, and NOT TALKING during the film.
These such patrons should have their movie enjoyment compromised too. As such, OPEN SEASON ON THESE MORONS SHOULD BE DECLARED.
Cinemas should stock a variety of padded and non-padded whacking sticks for all aggrieved patrons to vent their frustrations upon these imbeciles! This should very quickly put an end to this sort of unacceptable behaviour. Indeed, I find that a good pummelling puts an end to any sort of foolish behaviour, plus it’s great for stress relief and a good work out to boot.
Ok… maybe pummelling fellow patrons may not be the best idea, but really… there should be some sort of remedy. Maybe, electric shock buttons… where you can be provided a remote with all the seat numbers wired in so that you can shock those who break the rules… OR… maybe everyone should have to sit under their own individual cone of silence ala GET SMART.
I think cinemas need to clamp down on people who flout common courtesy… otherwise vigilante cinema goers may take enforcing propriety into their own hands! There could be a spate of Batman and Zorro type cinema “accidents” and chants of reclaim our cinemas!
AAAahh… if only…
Time for bed now.
Haven’t posted for a little while… went to martial arts camp and lazied about last weekend. Was great! I believe I p!ssed off our instructor a little with my lack of training! but I had lots of fun anyway! Twisty and I tried some slow free sparring with swords, then with naginata and then with nagamaki. Was awesome!
I also pulled out my practical katana and did some test cutting in the back yard. Was an interesting first attempt. I wasn’t using any hard targets… not willing to risk bending a blade on my first attempt. The first 4 cuts were great… straight through. Then got scrappy when I began to over think my cuts.
Oh… I’ve also had a request from N the Pirate to be called Raven from now on…. something about being bird brained…
Now, I’m back in the big smoke and trying to finish my xmas shopping.
Dunno what to buy people… so many options! and people are beginning to ask me what I want for xmas… and my b’day. I have no idea. I have things I want, but nothing particularly cheap! i.e. I want that floro knife for a bargain price of $545 AUD! or a new PC! I have got my eye on a boxing book.
